Andy Farrell will lead the British and Irish Lions on their 2025 tour to Australia after confirmation of his appointment as head coach.
Farrell will take charge of the Lions for the first time having served as an assistant under Warren Gatland on the 2013 and 2017 trips to Australia and New Zealand, respectively. The 48-year-old Englishman succeeds Gatland having impressed during his four-year reign as Ireland head coach, masterminding a grand slam and a historic 2-1 series victory in New Zealand. Farrell will take a break from his role with Ireland from December 2024 until the conclusion of the Lions tour.
