The Championship managerial merry-go-round keeps spinning. Michael Beale, the former QPR manager, has been appointed by Sunderland today. Alex Neil, who left the Black Cats for Stoke last term, was sacked last week – and reports suggest that Plymouth’s Steven Schumacher is the frontrunner to replace him, ahead of John Eustace.

The former Birmingham coach could actually end up replacing Schumacher at Home Park, while Tony Mowbray – recently sacked by Sunderland – is another name in the frame. Swansea, meanwhile, could look to Elfsborg manager Jimmy Thelin, who spoke to Sunderland and has also been linked with Stoke. Phew!
