England crashed to a chastening defeat in Rajkot as India took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series with a dominant display to win the third Test by a record margin of 434 runs.

Chasing a world-record target of 557 after India declared on 430 for four, the tourists lost both openers shortly before tea, ending a grim session on 18 for two. Ben Duckett ran himself out before Zak Crawley was given lbw off Jasprit Bumrah, the decision staying with the on-field umpire as the ball would have flicked leg stump.
