Australian Olympic champion Mollie O’Callaghan had been told to “stop swimming immediately” last month because of spinal stress fractures, but has been cleared to race at next week’s Commonwealth Games.
O’Callaghan, the reigning Olympic 200m freestyle champion, revealed her anguish in the run-up to the games in Glasgow, which begin on 23 July, and the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in California in August.
