England’s bowlers might have no idea how to control the brutal batting of West Indies but for the first time in a previously lopsided series their batters fought fire with fire, and the result was a brilliant, classic victory, sealed by seven wickets with one ball remaining and, for the tourists, a foothold in this series.

Phil Salt scored 109 off just 56 balls, a wonderful innings made all the more impressive for the fact that towards the end he was obviously struggling against the heat of a roasting Grenada afternoon. But it did not appear to be enough. When Liam Livingstone was dismissed with just 13 balls remaining England still needed 37. Enter Harry Brook, and carnage.
