Betting ROI calculator: profit, yield and ROI from your record

This betting ROI calculator turns your betting record into four simple figures: profit, yield, ROI on bankroll and average stake.

It helps you see your results honestly. However, a small number of bets says very little about whether your method has an edge.

Betting ROI calculator: £120 profit on £4,000 staked is a 3% yield

ROI and yield calculator

The short version

  • Yield = profit ÷ total staked.
  • ROI on bankroll = profit ÷ starting bankroll.
  • Average stake = total staked ÷ number of bets.

How to use the betting ROI calculator

Enter your total staked, your total returned (stakes plus winnings), your starting bankroll and the number of bets. Then the betting ROI calculator does the rest.

Use figures from your own records, not from memory. That is because most people remember wins more clearly than losses, so a log is far more reliable.

Worked example

Worked example

For example, over 200 bets you staked £4,000 in total and got £4,120 back. Also, your starting bankroll was £1,000.

First, profit = £4,120 − £4,000 = £120. Next, yield = £120 ÷ £4,000 = 3%.

Then ROI on bankroll = £120 ÷ £1,000 = 12%. Finally, your average stake is £4,000 ÷ 200 = £20.

What the result means

Yield shows how much you gained or lost per £1 staked. On the other hand, ROI on bankroll shows the change in your pot. So the same £120 looks small as a yield and large as an ROI.

Also, 200 bets is far too few to judge. A 3% yield over that many bets could easily be luck, either way. Our guide to keeping betting records explains what to log and why.

Betting ROI calculator vs CLV

Profit is noisy, and it settles slowly. Therefore, many people track closing line value too, with the CLV calculator. To see how much luck can swing a yield, try the betting variance calculator. For the general idea of ROI, see this explainer. Above all, remember that betting is entertainment, not a way to earn a return.
